Chapter Sisterhood

Here in Tri Delta's Upsilon Chapter, the formality of the word "sisterhood" usually makes us crack up, but we actually take our sisterhood very seriously. We are more than just a group of girls who recognize Sarah Shaw as the original HBIC (Head Boss In Charge) and have said the word pansy more in the last few years than most people have in their lifetimes. We are a group of young women brought together by a variety of shared interests and passions - most importantly each other. We are unique and dynamic individuals and we recently showcased that when we hosted our first-ever TEDxTriDelta conference. Tri Delta women from our chapter prepared speeches on "what makes them tick" and presented them to the chapter. Topics varied from the importance of rap as an art form to how to get over a bad break up. Snacks were of course provided!

While we love getting together and hearing about the amazing and talented women of our chapter, sometimes we just like to kick back and enjoy each other's presence. There is always some kind of movie marathon going on in the living room, whether it's Harry Potter movies, Disney Channel original movies (The Thirteenth Year anyone?) or Mary Kate and Ashley movies (Holiday in the Sun will never get old). While you might not be able to count on viewing Oscar winning films, you can always count on cookie cake being present. We have an annual Superbowl party because our collective football knowledge can rival any fraternity (and we're all hoping something like the Beyonce half-time show will happen again soon).

When it comes down to it, we love being together regardless of the activity. The only difference between a planned "Delta's-Only" event and what happens in the living room on an average night is really just the variety of snacks present! The women in our chapter are bright and talented in a variety of different fields. Every time we get together is an opportunity to share a range of stories and viewpoints that most people don't get to experience in their whole lifetime! Some of our best nights are spent wasting away the hours late into the night in TK (Tri Delta Kitchen) with whoever happens to wander downstairs. While the concept of "sisterhood" can seem like it's out of some corny sorority movie, living in the house and spending time with the women of this chapter makes it seem like so much more. Maybe you came for the cookie cake, but we know you'll stay for the sisterhood!
